The short version: BackyardRated does not collect personal information about you. There are no accounts, no newsletter sign up, no analytics and no tracking cookies of our own. Everything below is detail on that.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you, through the site itself. We run no analytics, so we do not know which pages you read, how long you stayed, or where you went next. Our cookie and analytics notice covers this in full, and that promise is enforced by our build rather than by memory.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. We do not query those logs to profile visitors.

If you email us

If you contact us, we hold your message and your email address for as long as it takes to deal with it and to keep a record of corrections we have made. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass your address to anyone.

Links to other sites

When you follow a link to a manufacturer or retailer, you are on their site under their policy. Affiliate links pass an identifier that tells the seller the visit came from a particular page of this site. It does not tell them who you are, and it tells us nothing about you either.

What we never do

We do not sell, rent or share personal data. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not run third party advertising on this site.

Your rights

Because we hold nothing beyond correspondence you sent us, a request to see or delete your data is straightforward. Write to us and we will confirm what we hold, which in most cases is nothing at all, and delete it on request.

This site is written for adults buying outdoor equipment and is not directed at children.
