BackyardRated runs no analytics and sets no cookies of its own. There is no Google Analytics on this site, no advertising pixel, no session cookie and no consent banner, because there is nothing here to consent to.

Why this page can be trusted

A promise like the one above is easy to write and easy to forget. So it is checked mechanically: our build scans the finished pages for any tracking script, compares the result against this page, and fails if the two disagree in either direction. If analytics were ever added without rewriting this page, the site would not build. If this page stopped saying it, and there were still no analytics, that would fail too.

What happens when you follow a link to a seller

Following an affiliate link takes you to the seller's own site, where their rules apply, not ours. Sellers and affiliate networks typically set a cookie to attribute the visit, and they may run their own analytics and advertising trackers. We have no control over and no access to any of it. Their privacy policy governs what happens from that point on.

Hosting

This site is served as static files. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. We do not use those logs to build any profile of you and we do not combine them with anything else.

If this changes

If we ever add analytics, this page will say what was added and why before it goes live, and consent will be handled where it is required. Our privacy policy covers the rest.
